Congrats to
Henry,
Lydia, and Yeshe!
(we apologize for the large picture)
Nnamdi Chiumbo is a boy from Nigeria who will be turning 5 in a few months.
He is generally a happy boy but is very shy towards other people. We found him in a poverty-stricken village, huddled next to his deceased grandfather's week-old body. According to the other villagers,
Nnamdi was raised by his grandfather, because a few days after the boy was born, his unmarried parents disappeared. Whether they were eloping, ashamed, or something else, no one knew.
When
Nnamdi does speak (which is uncommon) he speaks Igbo.
He will need to learn English.
He loves cats and small dogs - hopefully Chaka's gentle temperament will help
Nnamdi learn to be comfortable around large animals.
Nnamdi seems to have a difficult time adjusting to new things and may isolate himself, but we're sure he will come around in time.
Thank you for taking
Nnamdi into your home - he is a very, very sweet boy and we're sure he'll get along great with your family. Please tell us how everything goes.
