[Opinions] Dorcas?
What do you think of Dorcas? Is it useable or is it too close to the slang term dork?

I don't mind the name, but the poor child would be picked on to within an inch of their life!

Dorkus MalorkusToo close to dork. Reminds me of the line from The Simpsons: "You are, as they say in Latin, a dorkus malorkus."I'm not a big fan of it aesthetically, either. I generally don't get into -us or -is sounds at the end of names. Even though the pronounciation key says it's more of an -as sound, even when I pay close attention to how I pronounce the name it doesn't come out much more clear than an -is.

Completely unusable, imo. I think living with this name would be agonizing. Tabitha, on the other hand, is lovely, and it's essentially the same name.

I don't think it is, dorkus is another slang term that means the same thing as dork so it's too close IMO.

Dork is the first thing I thought of.

I love the name Dorcas and I really do think that the term dork is a big strike against it but I say its still good for in a mn slot.

I'd never use it, but it's usable IMO.

Dorcas is my grandmother's name, and even she hates it when people call her by her first name. I wouldn't reccommend it. Perhaps as a mn?

I think it's way too close to dork. And I recall people using dorkas or dorkass or something like that (at least that sound, but I don't know how it was spelled) in the eighties. I can clearly remember my aunt calling my cousins and I that. A child named Dorcas would definitely be teased mercilessly.

I agree

I think it is way too close to dork or dork-ass. Tabitha is the same name, and it's much nicer.
