[Opinions] Thoughts on Carrington
My friend babysits for a little girl named Carrington. Personally, I dislike it. I think it's too heavy for a girl. It could work on a boy, but I still don't like it much. So, wdyto Carrington?

Makes me think of Dora Carrington and the film "Carrington" (with Emma Thompson and Jonathan Pryce). Not the nicest of associations, considering she killed herself.

It's a surname and I don't find it the least bit feminine. I don't even like it for boys.

I personally love itOne of the most precious little girls I know - who will also be celebrating her sixth birthday tomorrow, coincidentally - is named Carrington, except spelled Karrington. Yes, I'm biased but I love it and the name fits her perfectly.

I know a girl whose last name is Carrington, so even if I particularly liked it, I wouldn't be able to see it as a first name.

It does sound more like a boy's name to me. It kind of reminds me of the name of a girl I know, Cariston.

Reminds me of carrion. Hate it for either gender, think it's even worse on a girl than it would be on a boy.

I agree with the others it's pretentious and ugly, however there's the precedent of the writer Dora Carrington, who went by her surname to downplay her female identity (this was sometime in the 20's or 30's). I don't know much about her, but a movie was made, entitled "Carrington", starring Emma Thompson.

It's incredibly pretentious, wannabe blueblood, and soap opera/romance novel. I think people got it from the eighties soap Dynasty. Carrington was the last name of some of hte people on it.

I think it's pompous on either gender. I guess she has the nn Carrie.

Unfortunatly she goes by Carrington, which is sad because I think Carrie would be cute on her.
