I think it was that Aduke came over on a boat from Africa when she was a young girl. She had a cowrie shell that she had taken with her. That shell was what Addy's mom gave her on a necklace during their escape from the plantation.
I don't think that Addy's full name is Aduke. I think she's probably named after her. But they might never have confirmed it. It could go either way.
((I just looked up about Mia: She's not a new historical doll. She's just the new doll of the year. They've come out with a new one about every year since 2001.))
