This is my middle name [otillia, version slightly varied]Tell him that is sounds elegant, and she was the patron saint of the blind.

What is it today? Everyone is bringing up beloved names of mine that I thought no one else liked? I'm the only one allowed to have good taste in names. Stop it.While Ottilia is new to me, Ottilie (with the stress on the first syllable) and Ottoline ("OTT-uh-leen") are dear to my heart. And I've recently fallen in love with Odile. Ottilia is so good I'm adding it to my long list. Don't be surprised if you see it cropping up in a list of suggestions on another thread. ;-) Perhaps your dh could get into Ottilie, nn Tillie?

It reminds me of the hun too much, too, sorry. I love all your other names, though. :) I have a son named Finley and we call him Finn.

Unfortunately, when I first saw the name, I thought it was a variation of Attila! And, although Ottilia is actually very pretty in it's own right, most people will pronounce it like Attila, just with a short 'o' sound at the beginning. Sorry!

Don't care much for Ottilia, it reminds me of "otitis". What about Odile?

I'm sorry, but I agree with your boyfriendI know they aren't the same, but they are similar.

I really like Ottilia!
The hun was named Attila and I defintely do not pronounce it the same way as Ottilia so I don't think they are similar. I'm not sure how you can convince your boyfriend though. All I can say is that I think it's a pretty, sophisticated and feminine name.
