I really like Livy, Livia, Porcia, Octavia, Seneca, and Attis.

I really like Livy, Livia, Porcia, Octavia, Seneca, and Attis.

Some are definitely usable, even as first names, although most are used under their French, English or whatever form...

Junius (m) - The strong "june" sound is feminine to me. I love Juniper, Junia, and Juno though (for girls).
Livy (m) - Too close to Livvy (as in short for Olivia).
Livia (f) - Ooh I want to like this so badly, but it just seems like someone chopped the O off of Olivia!
Antonius (m) - Usable, though nms.
Claudius (m) - Not my favorite, but I love Claudio:)
Porcia (f) - I love Portia.
Pompeia (f) - Sounds nice, but I personally wouldn't want to name my child after a buried and ruined city.
Cassius (m) - Totally usable. Love nn Cas/Cass.
Octavia (f) - Love, love, love it!!!
Sextus (m) - HA. Please don't use this!
Tiberius (m) - NMS, but I could see it being used.
Seneca (m) - Same as Tiberius.
Britannicus (m) - Ooh! I think this is going into my GP list! Love it, but perhaps too heavy for actual use? I love to see it anyway!
Quintus (m) - I have a strong dislike for Q and X names.
Aulus (m) - I like it, but a bit too bland for me to say I love it.
Attis (m) - It could grow on me. It does sound like Attic though.

I think Livia, Octavia and Portia are lovely and 100% useable. The other ones are interesting, but the -us ending makes them a bit of a mouthful.
The ones I'd personally stay away completely are Claudius, because it's the name of an insane and tyrannical Roman emperor and maybe Cassius, because of Caesar' s assassin.

Junius (m)- I prefer it to Julius, which I dislike immensely
Livy (m)- It seems too much like a nn for Olivia
Livia (f)- Looks incomplete to me, like it should be Olivia
Antonius (m)- I definitely prefer Anthony / Anton, but this is ok
Claudius (m)- not a fan, Claude or Claudio would be much better
Porcia (f)- Porcia reminds me of pork

Junius -- I love it, but most people will ask him, "You mean Julius?" It would get old so fast as a fn. The feminine form Junia, is eminently useable. I'd love to meet a little Junia one day.
Livy -- Completely unuseable here in teh U.S. This will be seen as a female form of Olivia. Unfortunately, he will get stared at and embarassed a lot.
Livia -- How wicked Livia was in "I,Claudius." And it is so beautiful, as a name. Love it. The big down-side is the inevitable, "You mean Olivia?"
Antonius -- A zippy and refreshing change of pace from Anthony. Sure, why not?
Claudius -- The "clod" part will turn many people off. But I do like it. I don't know if it's the most useable fn though.
Porcia -- Porcine. Sorry, but I don't care for this. That's funny, because Portia is perfectly lovely in my book and I pronounce them exactly the same way.
Pompeia -- The word pompous should put me off this name, but it doesn't. Pompeia has a lovely sound to it. I'd keep it for the mn position.
Cassius -- Perfectly useable. I see this name bandied about name sites often enough. It's not my favorite, but I'd like to see it on someone else's child.
Octavia -- Love, love, love it. Use it, please! Quirky and commanding at the same time.
Sextus -- anything with "sex" in it is unuseable here in the U.S. We are too immature to handle it. *sigh*

Seneca -- People will think it's part of the geographic trend, rather than a Roman name. But I don't see why that should stop someone who truly loves this name.
