There is a German girl in my class called Denise so it has good connotations for me. I agree with Persephone. After reading it in the first part of a trilogy (Malorie Blackman's 'Noughts and Crosses') I struggled to pronounce it and then decided it was a stupid name. However, my liking for it has grown considerably since then!
