It's hideous, honestly. There is no 'American' language. Here in America, we speak english. It looks like a kree8yff form of Davie (as in the nickname for David) to me. And the dah-vay prn is going to always be mispronounced.

I would like to know what these 'several places' are. I assume baby name books, which often make up meanings.
