[Opinions] Amy
What do you think of Amy? Do you think it's too dated to use now?

Aimée is pronounced "eh-MAY" though.

Yeah, I feel it's a tad dated. It sounds like an 80's name to me, and makes me think of an airheaded cheerleader. It's too... insubstantial for me. I think I would prefer it as a nn for something longer and more elegant, like Amelia.

I love the name Amy and always have. I don't think it's too dated, I think it would be nice on a little girl these days.

I agree.

Still seems to be pretty popular, I know of Amys of all ages. I don't really like it, it's akin to Mary, Sarah or Elizabeth. Classic, but blah.

I think it's dated, but not horribly so. Also, I know a few Amelias who go by Amy, so that could be a nice alternative. That way you'd have some flexibility?

It is dated, but I think the simple sound of it goes along with many of the very popular names (Ava, Emma, Ellie, etc.). Personally I don't find the name that exciting, but it isn't a bad name. I could picture a little girl name Amy.

Amy is my name, and I was named after my Grandmother who was born in the early 1900's... so it does have time on it's side. I never hated my name... nor did I love it. It's just kind of a plain, no nonsense name. I know Amy's of all ages... the youngest being 7. There is nothing 'wrong' with it... but it doesn't have much 'wow' power.
JMO!
