I knew a girl named Mica once and she pronounced it MEE-sha. Almost everyone pronounced it MEE-ka when they were meeting her for the first time. I think MEE-ka looks like the obvious way to pronounce it but I don't think it sounds very attractive. I much prefer Micah (MIE-ka) and I like it more for a girl.

I prefer Mika - works fine on boy or girl. It can be of Finnish -for boys- or Japanese -for girls- origin. Pronunciation is mee-kah for both afaik.

I've never seen Mika on a girl in Germany, but dunno about the dutch usage.

Micah (MY-ka) is one of my favourite names for a boy, so I not only have difficulty with pronouncing Mica mee-kah, but I think of it only as a boys name. I don't really like it for a girl though, sorry...

Mika looks a little better to me, and more like it should be pronounced MEE-kah. Mica makes me think of formica, or Micah left off the 'h' (and I only like Micah for a boy).

Funny thing, but I always associate Mica with a girl and pronounce it mee-kah and Micah with a boy and pronounce it my-kah. I'm sure the name has a variety of pronunciations, but I never realized until I saw your post that I differentiate between the two.

I like it for a boy or a girl, but I feel like for a boy it needs the 'h' on the end to look a bit more masculine. It'd also make a cute nn, maybe for Michaela? (Not sure if that name is to your taste).

Mica as the word is always pronounced Mike-a, like Formica. If you want the Meeka pronunciation, use Mika, like Mika Brzezinski. And the Meek pronunciation is very drag-queen for a boy. Boys use Micah, long i.
