[Opinions] Doralice
I recently discovered that my husband's great grand-aunt was a Doralice. He told me in Italy it's not so rare, and he thought it was a mix of Dora and Alice.
Apparently it is not: http://www.behindthename.com/submit/view.php?name=doraliceanyway, wdyt?

So, in Italian is that Dora-lee-chay or something similar? I think it sounds nicer with that pronunciation, although it still looks like Dora-lice. I know a woman named Saralice, pronounced like Sarah Alice, but it always looks like Sara-lice to me.

I see it as a nice name to remember a family member. Other than that, it's not unusable, but not really my style. It's listed pronunciation is nice, but my first instinct is DOOR-a-lice. Ick. I will say I like it better than Dora or Doris.

I don't like it, not sure how to pronounce it I say dora-lease.It would be lovely to honour this name with Alice or Dora though.

I'd be afraid that it would be pronounced Door-alice, but the Italian pronunciation is very pretty. I like it!

I have trouble imagining. the name on a flesh-and-blood individual, it's one of those names that only characters from operas and old books can have. The person who submitted it says it comes from the "Orlando Furioso", I'm struggling to remember a Doralice there, but then, there's so many characters in that book! I'm also wondering about the meaning suggested, if I remember correctly in Greek "doron" is indeed gift (as in Dorothea, Theodore, etc.) but dawn is "eos".

HrmAt first glance I just see Dora and Lice. That is not a nice thing at all.The pronunciation suggested by "Psycho Princess" would not have been my first or second guess.I think it would be [marginally] nicer spelled Doralise and pronounced like Dora and Elise.
