[Opinions] Mahalia
I am really loving Mahalia right now. I've asked opinions on it, and now I have two more questions:First off, any middle name suggestions?
My mind is pretty blank, and when I come up with a combo, it doesn't seem "right". I like Mahalia Miriam Rose, but I don't particularly like two mns. I love the combo Mahalia Nightingale, but I'm afraid it's way to extravagant.Secondly, Mahalia is my top girl name at the moment, and Milo is my top name for a boys. I think the names are too close to be in the same sibset, but I try to convince myself that they're not. Opinions?
(I did a poll on this, and the answer was extremely straightforward: http://www.behindthename.com/polls/view.php?id=107314) Thanks for any suggestions! ETA: I pronounce it ma-HAYL-ee-a. The "ee" sound isn't very strong, but it's not ma-HAYL-ya.

Oh, I love it so...I love Mahalia so much. Easily would be one of my favourites, if not my number one favourite if I only judged names on aesthetics...But I cannot get past the meaning :-(I love Mahalia Miriam Rose. Its lovely.

I think Mahalia is a beautiful sounding name, it's the meaning that ruins it for me, unfortunatly.Mahalia and Milo don't sound too bad for siblings. It could be worse, I mean it's not Jayden and Kayden or something!I like Mahalia Rose, Mahalia Kate, Mahalia Pearl, Mahalia Phoebe, Mahalia Iris, Mahalia Grace, Mahalia Jade, Mahalia Plum, Mahalia Sky, Mahalia Rain, Mahalia Clio, Mahalia Zoe & Mahalia Daisy.

I like looking at Mahalia and saying it. I just don't care for its meaning and wonder if it would get shortened to Halie which would be a real waste. Mahalia Miriam Rose is nice. I knew an elderly woman for years. Her name was Myra but when she passed away, I discovered her name was really Miriam Rose which is lovely.

Mahla is, well... Hebrew for cancer (full word yena mahla). And Mahala seems to be "illness".I am trying to find if Mahla, Mahala and Mahalia are used in Hebrew knowing circles, but it seems to be only used by those chosing Biblical names without knowing their meaning...But you have Mala, a Yiddish short form of Malka. Pronunced mah-lah. Also Mali (mah-lee) http://www.behindthename.com/submit/view.php?name=mali
Malinka (mah-leen-kah), pet form of Amalia / Malka.

I don't know if this helps, but the Mahala I know is from a Jewish American family. Her siblings are Moishe (nn Moe), Hosannah (sp?)(nn Hosie) and Avram (nn Avi).Their parents were very particular with names and her father speaks Hebrew (or Yiddish, I'm not exactly sure which).

Hey! Mahalia Nightingale!*stab of proprietary jealousy*Mahalia is Scarlett's second mn, and Nightingale, well... Nightingale isn't exactly my name alone... I mean, I know other people like it and all...*sulking*Okay. I'm over it. Obviously I think it's wonderful. :-)

I was just thinking about Mahalia the other day. I like it very much. I work with a Mahala ("ma-HAY-luh"), which she says is a variant. I confess I like Mahalia more though. Her name is Mahala Katherine, by the way. For mns, how about:Mahalia Katherine Rose
Mahalia Rebecca Katherine
Mahalia Katherine Renata
Mahalia Rebecca Eve
Mahalia Katherine Eve
Mahalia Katherine Gabrielle
Mahalia Eve Gabrielle
Mahalia Rebecca Carmel ("car-MEL")
Mahalia Carmel Rebecca ("CAR-ml")
Mahalia Eve Carmela
Mahalia Rachel Katherine
Mahalia Rosamund Eve
Mahalia Ruth Emmanuelle
Mahalia Eve Raphaela
Mahalia Ruth SeraphineMix and match, of course. Sorry for any repeats. Could any of these work for you, or give you ideas for other combos? As for Mahalia and Milo, my rule of thumb is that two siblings with the same first letter could be put down to coincidence. Three is a theme. I wouldn't worry about Mahalia and Milo as siblings.
