i was thinking of using it as a middle name really.
e.g. Guinevere Aerin.

I don't see the point of that a. It doesn't change the way the name sounds at all, if you pronounce Erin like air-in. It just seems unnecessary. That being said, I like Erin a lot, especially as a mn. I have a good friend named Melinda Erin.

I've never thought about Erin as a mn before. It does flow nicely. I'll have to keep that in mind. Thanks!

The spelling looks trendy and makes the name feel less intellectual than the more classic Erin.

Sorry, but Aerin looks contrived to me. It looks like someone in homeroom with too much time on her hands thinks it's cool to misspell Erin. Perhaps Aerin has history to it that I'm missing. If so, I'd love to learn it. :-)But if I came across this in the real world I'd (inwardly) roll my eyes.

well i'm pretty sure it is another spelling of Erin. i've heard that its an Indian name too. Aerin was also a minor character in Tolkien's Children of Hurin if you've read it.
a tryndee version of Erin was not my intention at all.

I so agree.I've never understood the need to "recreate" names, especially classic names that everyone and their brother can already spell. I came across a particular offender last week: Jeymz. Why?

Totally agree

I think Aerin is a great variant of Erin. I've seen Aeryn before as well, not sure whether that's pronounced the same as Erin

i have as well, i like it but it was a variation too far for me!

To me it seems so, so much harder. It creates a harsh 'eh' sound instead of 'e' sound. I really like Erin. It's simple and sweet but Aerin sounds very contrived and very harsh. Sorry - I just realised how mean I sound!

really? its pronounced the same way.

Is it?Then I just feel it's a bit too difficult. People would never spell it right which is really annoying for the child. Plus the Ae spelling usually creates an 'ay' sound.
