It's that time again, the first of the month. Post your current top 5 boys and girls names and compare them to yours from last month.

So Beatrix dropped a fair bit (because I'd call her Bea and we have friends with a boy, Brian and they call him 'B'. We see them fairly frequently and I think it might get a bit confusing. But I realy like it. Cecilia slid down one (possible spellings of Cecelia irk me) and Florence has risen to #2. I'm really loving her right now and I find her a bit more usable than Ottoline, in full, so she may just jump to 1st soon. I'm still adoring Pomeline and wondering about her actual usability. Xanthe's dropped to 13th, I still love her,but find her a bit much next to sister Josephine.

Oh, I've always done 10 for eachs in the past months, so I'm going with 10 each, again, for consistency. Many of the same names, just slighty different arrangements, most probably. Number in brackets indicates were the name was on the last lists - Jan, Feb, March & April respectively.

They're almost completely shifted from last month, but it seems less severe to me than it looks - only Cato and Sirona are genuinely new. All the others were in my Much Liked list last month and it's just a question of shuffles within the top 20 or so.
This month I evidently feel that Alexis is genuinely usable, hence its taking the top spot, because it's my favourite boys' name ever. I'm also in a phase of liking Severin again. Edmund therefore goes to #3, Hilary moves down one spot to #4, and the last one goes to my flavour of the month, Cato.
In the girls', Eleanor and Genevieve have each dropped two places, to #4 and #5. I'm liking Morwenna and Felicity a lot at the moment, hence the top places, whereas they've recently been hovering around the thirteen-fourteen mark. Sirona is a very recent favourite.
My favourites have been in crazy flux recently.

But if I had a boy tomorrow, I would only seriously consider the top 2. I am pretty solid on Louis and my husband like it too. He even like the nn Louie.
GIRLS:

5. Millicent (Millie or Milla)
Delphine is a newly discovered favorite.
My daughter is already named Fiona. I hadn't discovered Ione when I was picking names for her.
Only two of these names, 3 and 4, would be considered for a real daughter, assuming my husband likes them. I am afraid to bring up these choices for fear he would shoot them down. He's not as adventurous with names as I am. He would be happy enough if I liked names like Emily and Olivia.
Because my husband hates Ione, and its too similar with Fiona, I would likely reluctantly abandon it as a serious contender if I had another girl.
And I wouldn't consider Millicent because, again my husband hates it, and it really doesn't go with my 12 letter, 5 syllable last name that also begins with an M.
Delphine might be a little long, but I would still consider it because it is only 2 syllables, and is passable with my last name.

Because my husband hates Ione, and its too similar with Fiona, I would likely reluctantly abandon it as a serious contender if I had another girl.
And I wouldn't consider Millicent because, again my husband hates it, and it really doesn't go with my 12 letter, 5 syllable last name that also begins with an M.
Delphine might be a little long, but I would still consider it because it is only 2 syllables, and is passable with my last name.

I'm off to construct my list now, and afterward I'll compare it to March's list. I fear I'm getting boring with age, though (I won't say conservative, as I'm not a fan of that word ;b). Edited to say: I just tracked down the last one of these, and I did ten that time. Rose, Niamh and Claudia were all top five, Eleanor has appeared out of nowhere (although come to think of it, Eleanor has always been one of those faves that I forget about) and Carys climbed from number nine. I'm not much of a nickname person but I do like to some degree Theresia "Thea" (TAY-uh), Thomasin "Thoma" (TOE-ma), and the odd Berta for any name with that ending. Not enough to make sure they're up there on the list, though. I think Thea is more apologetic than anything for how massive I think Theresia feels. I'd just die of Christophine was shortened at all; I'm not a fan of any Chris- nicknames for girls apart from maybe Chris itself.
Mine are almost the same. My boys list is more of a top twenty type of things and a few have moved up a bit higher. It'll all shift again within the same set, I'll bet. My girls are the same but Fatima edged out what I believe was Maria. I'm a bit lukewarm on Maria sometimes. I think it's only a favorite of mine when it's in the combo Maria Christophine, otherwise I'm not always too attracted to it. Fatima is one that I always love but don't necessarily put onto my lists because it's not one that I play with in combos or whatnot.
