Chloe. I just absolutely love the name. I know it's popular, but I see it as a beautiful classic, not a trendy name. It also ages well in my opinion. Charlotte is really beautiful too, but I'm going with Chloe.

I love both but I'm going to go with Chloe this time. Everyone is always down on Chloe and it gets a lot of flack. I know it's trendy but I think it's a very lovely and sweet name.

I definitely prefer Charlotte. I've never been fond of Chloe, and Charlotte just sounds so much more feminine imo.

I'd prefer Charlotte, because it has a more elegant sound.I think both names are incredibly trendy in Britain at the moment, but in the US, Charlotte is not so common yet.

Charlotte!Charlotte is just a BEAUTIFUL name, imo.
I find it classy, elegant and very feminine, without being frilly. Charlotte has a much sweeter sound to me than Chloe, and it looks wonderful, too.
It has many nn possibilities: Lotte, Lottie, Char, Charlie (although I really dislike it for a girl, probably because I just ADORE Charlie for a boy).
It's a timeless name, it ages well and -although I'm from Catalonia, where there aren't Charlottes nor Chloes- Chloe will probably sound dated someday not too far away, as it seems to be quite trendy.

Which do I prefer, my right hand or my left? Wow. OK. So Chloe has spunk and off beat charm, while Charlotte has more staying power.*I'd go with Charlotte, but what a difficult decision.
* Both are classic, but I put Charlotte in the Catherine-Elizabeth- Caroline-JaneAusten-never-really-go-out-of-style category.

Charlotte! Chloe is cute but trendy; Charlotte is a classic.

Chloe for sure. I hate the name Charlotte.

Chloe!I hate Charlotte. It makes me think of Charlotte's Web. And I've never met a Charlotte who impressed me.

I love both names but if I had to choose I'd choose Charlotte. I like Charlotte a little more because I love Charli as the nickname for it. I think Charlotte ages better than Chloe does. Its just extremely cute and girly but has a tomboyish nickname.Proud Aunt to be to:

I like Charlotte better. I think it ages better than Chloe. I like the name Chloe, but our dog's name is Chloe so it's hard for me to see it on a girl.

I prefer Charlotte, but without any nicknames. I find its nicknames horrendous but I like Charlotte itself. I think Chloe is too girly to mature well and also more trendy, less classy than Charlotte.

Chloe! I think of Charlotte as any old lady name, plus I don't like any possible NN's for Charlotte.Leslie, lucky mommy to Scott (2000), Delaney (2002), and Larissa (2005)

1) I like the sound of Chloe
2) I find Charlotte very prissy
3) The nicknames for Charlotte are poor - Lottie is pretentious, Charlie is a boys name, Char is a grilling method.
4) My ex bf cheated on me with a girl called Charlie!

That's so funnythat you call Lottie pretentious. I love it and think it sounds very "homey" and "down to earth." But then people say a lot of my names sound pretentious. Could you clarify what you mean, please? :)

I guess here in England the name would be stereotyped as belonging to a spoilt upper class girl. So for somebody to want to give their child that name would be as if they were trying to emulate and convey themselves as upper class.
Hope that helps.

I disagreeIn my part of England (north east) just about every other kid you meet is named Charlotte. It's far from pretentious. Whereabouts are you from?

I live in Manchester and know quite a number of Charlottes. The message was referring to the nickname Lottie :)

Thanks! It just seemsso "homey" to me that it's hard for me to understand. :)

Oh, Charlotte, by far.Chloe, while a nice name, is pretty trendy right now. Charlotte is such a beautiful classic.

I like them about the same. Both are classic and pretty, but too popular and so a bit "bleh". I'd prefer both to be middle names, with a more unusual first name._____________________________________________________________________Elinor"Yeehaw!" is not a foreign policy!

Charlotte, hands down. It's so pretty, and it'll age well. Chloe is very immature sounding, too frilly, and I can't see an adult named Chloe.

Are you with me or do you need me to draw it in crayon like usual? - "Con Air"

I slightly prefer Chloe, I think it's sweeter, but I do agree that Charlotte ages alot better :).

Can I choose Charlotte, based on being bias, since it's my own name? Lol!I guess not... Then I'd go with Chloe, I have loved for years. And it's an unusual name here in Denmark. I really look to choose very unusual names for my kids, and I have if you look in my profile. (They are in Denmark, at least.) :-)

Charlotte... because anything is better than Chloe! It's one of my least favourite names, like Zoe. Both are simply ugly to me._________________________________________________

Chloe sounds a bit nicknameish to me though still fine.Charlotte has always been lovely to me.

I like both names. I think I prefer Charlotte, b/c it sounds a bit softer. The K-sound is a bit harsh. But I don't agree that Chloe does not age well. It is a really old name and mentioned in the bible (NT). It is not a new and trendy fn, like Madison or McKenzie, and not a nn like Katie.

I like both a lot but If I had to chose I would pick Charlotte for several reasons
A - I have a neice called Chloe
B - Charlotte goes better with my Catherine ( my daughters name )
C - Both are popular, but where I live Chloe is very very popular I know at least Eleven Chloe's and only four Charlotte's
D - A girl called Charlotte can go by the nicknames Lottie Charlie if in a class with other Charlottes while Chloe has very few nicknamesA childs smile is worth more to me than Gold
