[Opinions] Darragh and Rowan
I really like both names Darragh and Rowan, however I have some concerns . Darrragh is pronounced DAW-ra, and according to some of my friends, that has too feminine a ring to it (its a boys name). With Rowan I have the opposite problem...I thought Rowan was a definite girls name, but apparently its unisex and is leaning towards the 'masculine' side of the unisex spectrum.
WDYT? Darragh to feminine for a boy? When you hear Rowan, do you think girl or boy?

I love DarraghAnd that's my favorite spelling! I don't think it's too feminine. It's more a GP though because it would be too "strange" of a name to use where I live. Even though I can't see it being mispronounced when spelled that way (unlike Dáire...), most people won't have heard of it.I think Rowan could work on a girl since it's a tree, but I think of it as a boy's name and I like it on a boy. For a girl I'd use Rowena.

Guilty Pleasure. Like a name that you like but only in theory-- wouldn't actually use it in real life.

I agree Darragh has a girly sound to me but Rowan is all boy.

To me Darragh is completely male, perhaps because just now there is a male Irish comedian gaining popularity in the uk called Dara. I prefer this spelling, imo Darragh is a bit over complicated. I can see how the a ending could leads to confusion though, especailly in America.Staying with the comedian theme, lol, my first instinct is that Rowan is male, probably beacuase of Rowan Atkinson, but on the whole it definitely can go either way. Actually, there is a female jorunalist called Rowan here.

I also think Darragh is completely male, partly because of Dara O'Briein, but also partly because I know two male Daras. For Rowan, the only ones I have met personally have all been female, so I think of them before Rowan Atkinson, and would be inclined to assume a Rowan was female, although, as you said, it could quite easily go either way.

Darragh is totally masculine to me, and I'm sure it is to most of the people on this site, too (we're pretty knowledgable about names lol) and would never be mistaken for a feminine name. Rowan is indeed unisex, but I would associate it strictly with a boy. Although Rowena is not the technical feminine variant of Rowan, I consider it so. Rowan is just so soft and woodsy (in a good way) to me, and is totally boy.

Darragh seem slike it could go either way to me, although I would say girl based on the sound I think it could work for the right guy.Rowan is great for either and its a type of tree so it really shouldn't have any delineation. I used to only like it on boys but I just met a little girl named Rowan and it definitely fit.
