[Opinions] How do you pronounce *Deirdre* ?
Help please. I have to make a phone call and ask for Deirdre (long story) but I'm not sure how to pronounce it. Thank you so much! =)

I've always said it as DEE-DRA. I've never had anyone correct me... but then again maybe they were just being polite. :)

I had a second cousin with this name. I always said Deer-dra. My mom used to say it Dee-it-ra. I always thought it was a name that didn't have one correct pronuciation, but several.

Hm... I pronounce it somewhere between Deer-dra and deer-dray. :\ I say Deer-dra, but cut the A short. I guess Deer-druh.

DEER-dree in Britain, DEER-dra in the US ... It's one of those transatlantic differences. I actually prefer the American pron., but no one would get it right here.

I'd pronounce it DEER-dra. That's how I've heard it said.

I pronounce it DEER-dra...Others pronounce it DEER-dree. I think -dra is more accurate but that isn't helpful in this case. Unhelpful as it is, I think you're going to have to guess on this one.

I've always said DEER-dra, but my friend says DEER-dree, so I couldn't say for sure. I'd just go with the one you're most comfortable with and hope you're right.

I've always said DEER-dreThis is the usual pronounciation in England. However, I once had to speak to a colleague in my previous job who was Irish and based in Ireland and she pronounced her name DARE-dra. Personally, I'd say Deer-dre.

Although the spelling isn't listed on this website, I pronounce it DEER-dray. I believe I've heard it pronounced like that before which is where I got it from.

That's what I thought too...(m)But I've heard it pronounced very differently and there are a few variations on this site too which made me unsure. But thanks for your help. =)
