I like Theodore. I think it's very handsome. I also like its various short forms.
However, unless I knew Theodore well, I would call him by whatever he preferred. Once we were good friends, he'd be Teddytedted or Fio or Dory or kiddo or whatever struck my fancy, but if we were, say, coworkers, I wouldn't shorten his name without permission.
