Help[Opinions] Sylvie
For some reason I've mostly been concentrating on names of the male persuasion as of late (John Paul Julian Ferdinand Christopher, anyone? :D) until I remembered how adorable Sylvie is. It's so elegant, strong, feminine... and adorable! Agree, disagree? Also, I think at this point I prefer Sylvie on its own, aka not a nickname for Sylvia, but which do you like better/think would be easier?
As far as combos go, for fun I was thinking of Sylvie July. Other (random) suggestions, if you have the time, would be great. :)

Oh yeah it's great and right up your ally! I ponder a lot about which Syl- name is my fave, Sylvie, Sylvia, Silvia, Silvestra, Sylvest (family surname). Sylvest wins out lately bc it fits best in the combo I have it in.
I enjoy the combo Sylvia Blanchefleur for its rich lush overthetop satinpillows feel. I think Sylvie Blanchefleur is an easy and workable tweak on it.
Sylvie July doesn't jive well for me. Sylvie feels very soft and rich and comfortable, and July is bright and forwardfeeling and optimistic.
Sylvie Victorine? idk. I try to stick Victorine places. I like the repetition, you might not. Sylvie Nadine? Sylvie Camille?

(I actually don't even know how famous she was in the US but my mom had apparently heard of her.) Cute girl and cute songs. I like a lot of consonants next to each other. S sounds and M sounds in particular, but I think V sounds are very sexy. (Also I think your siggy is really sexy. Have I told you this?)

I used to like Astrid a long long time ago because of her. I think she is very sexy and mysterious and sort of - sort of hugely important to the world in a really epic sort of way because she had to do with the formation of the Beatles. So. :P

Lol yeah, you told me. That's why I thought you'd enjoy watching John-The-Married-One hit on her. And about Astrid Kirchherr, maybe that's why my opinion of Astrid had changed? I knew who she was but never really associated it with her. Strange. But yeah, agreed that she's important in, like, a mysterious and almost eerie kinda way.

I love Sylvie as a full name--just like Sophie instead of a nickname for Sophia. I think Sylvie July is fun.

My French name in high school was Sylvie, so as you can imagine, I'm quite biased in favour of it. I also love Sylvia and (though to a much lesser extent) Silvia.

So I think U names would be safe, and names that start with the "yoo" sound, like Sylvie Euphronia and Sylvie Eudoxia.
I want to put Kana in there with Sylvie, but Kana and Sylvie don't flow no matter what way you put them together. D:

Thanks, these are fabulous. Sylvie Crescentia, Florence, and Heloise seem particularly youthful, in a good way. I'd subconsciously thought of S. Marcella myself but it's nice to see it written out by someone else as well. Same almost goes for Laurel but I was thinking Laura. Lastly, I love the sound of both Sylvie Sinclair and Sylvie Verbena, but could you tell me more about Verbena? It's lovely . :-)

Verbena is the name for several different plants (I like lemon verbena a lot), many of which can be used as herbs. :D http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Verbena
