Noam is definitely my top-choice for my future son's name. I too was looking through a baby name book, when I chanced upon it. I was trying to name the protagonist for my short story and was torn between using
Noah and
Noam. I gave
Noam a chance and I've loved it ever since. I agree,
Noam does sound soft and gentle-sounding. And I can see a
Noam as being quiet and intellectual, but rather confident at the same time.
And the
Chris nickname doesn't bother me that much. If I had a son named
Christopher, I personally wouldn't call him
Chris a whole lot but I wouldn't mind if his friends did or anything.
