Shi Zaman Spring

"Shi" means "time, history," "Zaman" means "time, age, era," while "Spring" means "to leap, to burst forth." So all together, it basically means "to leap through time." :)

Veda first began to notice Shi at the local coffee shop she visited nearly everyday. Shi would sit across the cafe from her, everyday, trying smiling at her whenever she wasn't looking, and turning away whenever she did. One day, annoyed with this game, Veda walked over to him, sat down, and they began to talk.
"Do you sit here and wait for me everyday? Or do you just never leave?"
"I don't wait for anyone," he smirked. "I just know when you're here."
"How?"
"I checked."
Confused, Veda shook her head and got up to leave.
"You'd better go back home and turn your clothes iron off," Shi laughed.
"What?" Veda said, quickly running through her morning routine, trying to remember whether or not she turned off her iron.
"Let me show you what's going to happen if you don't..." Shi said mysteriously. He grabbed Veda's arm. Suddenly, everything went black. Veda couldn't breathe. Then, suddenly, it was light again. They were standing outside of Veda's house. Shocked, Veda saw the flames rising in the air, surging through her house.
"See," said Shi.
"Oh my God!" Veda screamed. Shi grabbed her arm again, and suddenly they were back in the coffee shop.
"What happened?" Veda panted, "How did you know?"
"I don't know what happened, I just saw the house," he smirked, once again, "You'd better go turn it off."

Maya and Phillip met because they have a lot of college classes together. Neither one suspected the other of having any kind of special power until they started dating. One night during Spring Break, they kissed each other on the beach, and an enormous wave came, knocking them both over. (Luckily, neither one was hurt). So, right there on the beach, dripping wet and covered in sand, they told each other about their powers.
They decided that, if Phillip's powers made Maya stronger, perhaps they could use them to help people. They made costumes to conceal their identities, and began fighting crime in New York under the names "Tempest" and "The Conjuror".

My best friend, Ally, lives half way across the country, but it was her twentieth birthday, so when she invited me, I couldn't say no. So I loaded up what little stuff I had... including my hamster. (His name is Frodo-- he likes his namesake. I let him watch Lord of the Rings one day... it went straight to his head. Now he wants a Chinchilla pal named Sam. I don't know what I was thinking... )

Anyway, so I was on the plane, and Frodo was in my purse, and there was this guy sitting across the aisle from me. He was probably about my age-- give or take a few years. Strong build, dark, black hair and green eyes. He kept looking out the window. Suddenly there was a flash of lightning.

And there weren't any. So the rest of the ride I was trying to figure out what exactly had happened. Eventually I just contributed it to faulty lighting or something.

My name is Hera Skuld, or Time of Destiny. I don't remember when I learned to jump; I think I've always had this power, but I've just recently learned to harness it and use it for my own. I remember in school that I would suddenly be ripped out of the classroom and into another time. I could be there for hours, but I always got back to class a split second after I left. Now I've found another of my kind, Hector Horatius, Fast Time. We met while in ancient Egypt protecting the pharaoh from assasins. We have begun working together. It is difficult to land in exactly the same time and place, so we're working on that. Our goal is to make the world a better place, even if it means changing the past to do it.

Charles Tollak Krieg always knew he was adopted. His father, the head of the multinational Krieg Corporation, never hid it from him. And from a very young age Charles knew he was special. His first memories of his power were at three years of age - he discovered he could throw a kind of spikes even though he didn't have them on his hands. His father noticed it one day - Charles thought he would be in trouble, but instead, his father merely ruffled his hair and said they would have to have a serious talk when he got older. He never had much contact with his father, or his stepmothers (there were several throughout the years). He was raised by nannies.

When Charles turned 8, his father thought it was time for his trainment to begin. Charles not only got to develop his power over the years, as he trained to have the skills of a warrior. At the age of 18, he was an expert in several marcial arts and had could hit a precise target from great distance, both with guns and his natural weapons (which he greatly prefers).

Charles also studied to become his fathers successor in Krieg Corp one day. At 25 he had a very influential role in the company already. But suddenly, without anyone expecting it, his father died of a heart attack. Even though he had never been that close to his father, he couldn't help but to feel a sense of abandonment - he had no other family. He took on his father's work and kept his assistant. At first, he was a bit reluctant - he had always suspected that 23-year-old Morana Yarrow had been hired by his father only because of her age and looks, but she surprised him with her competence.

Cyrus Nox Black is a 27 year old man from northern England. Cyrus has night vision, and he can hardly seeing in the day. One day in a park Cyrus was siting on a bench (because he can hardly move around). He was waiting for his best friend, Tanith Novotny, to come to pick him up. Cyrus and Tanith had been friends for about four years now.

But Cyrus and Tanith both had huge secrets. Cyrus had night vision and Tanith could regenerate lost limbs. The friends didn't have to courage to tell one another. Tanith had always thought that Cyrus was just blinded in the day. Cyrus had never seen Tanith grow any arms, so he thought that she was just completely normal.

A few minutes later Cyrus and Tanith were on their way to get something to eat. After dinner, Cyrus just couldn't keep lying to Tanith so he explained that he had night vision. Tanith was so excited that she told him about her regeneration powers.

A week later, Cyrus and Tanith were engaged. They knew that they were perfect for each other. Their parents thought that they are getting married to soon. They had known each other for four years, but were not good friends but about a month ago. But they are just happy that they found each other.

Miles always knew he was a little bit different. He didn't see any outward difference between him and the other kids, but it always seemed to him that he had some extra protection that the other kids did not possess. Like any boy, Miles was rambunctious and always out playing hard. He remembers numerous times when he should have gotten hurt, but only received a surface wound--the time he fell 13 feet from a tree and only bruised his arm, the time he fell off his bike and wasn't wearing a helmet, but only had a slight headache, and of course, the time he knew he was different--the time he was riding his bike and got hit by a pickup truck. Miles was rushed to the hospital, but suffered no internal injuries or concussion at all--just a few scrapes and abrasions. Doctors could not fathom how Miles had survived the impact, let alone how he was walking out of their hospital nine hours later. They decided that it had been a medical miracle. Miles knew otherwise. He had seen the truck coming and, just before it hit him, he had felt himself harden up a bit on the inside, just below the skin. After he had hit the ground, the feeling went away. Miles has never told anyone about that incident and what he experienced, but he figures that if he can't be fatally injured, then he should probably go into some dangerous field.

First Miles tried crab fishing--a dangerous job. He stayed on the boat for almost two years, but then decided it wasn't for him. When he was almost 20, he decided to try being a police officer, but he decided that the job was mostly boring and only mildly exciting when they went out after criminals--Miles spent most of the time answering phones, directing traffic, and handing out tickets to speeders.
