[Opinions] Re: Ashton (female)
It's just about the time when female Ashtons should start showing up in wedding announcements. :)In 1986, Ashton suddenly became well-used for girls in the USA because of a character in the television miniseries North and South. For the next 11 years, until 1998, there were more girls born in the USA named Ashton than there were boys. Then the huge publicity given Ashton Kutcher, as well as the fashion for boys' names ending in -n, reversed that dramatically.Ashton is nearly unique in being a name which had switched to predominantly female for a decade and then switched back to predominantly male again. It will be interesting to see what happens with the name if any of the girls born between 1986 and 1997 who bear the name become famous. :)
