Bastian - I would prn it BAS-chen. As for your second question...that's a tough one. I don't like Sebastian very much (makes me think of the crab), but I tend to favor using full names as opposed to nns as fns. Hmm, I suppose I'd just name him Bastian. I think it's one of those nns that works well as a full name. A quick google search for Bastian reveals that it's a surname that has been used as a fn in the past.
Solveig - I know that the correct prn is SOL-vay (which is lovely, by the way), but if I didn't know better I'd be tempted to prn it SOL-vayg. SOL-vieg is hideous, BTW. I think if I were you, I'd avoid prn issues by spelling the name Solvay. It would be so much easier for English speakers that way.
