Marge and margie are terrible, and I'm not fond of Peg/Peggy, Maggie or Madge. Meg has a good association with me, but I really like Greta and Daisy.

I've always assumed that Daisy came to be a nn for Margaret because the French form of Margaret is Marguerite, and the French word for daisy is also marguerite. I don't have any documentation for this, but it seems unlikely to be a coincidence.
