[Opinions] Re: Light and Bubbly
in reply to a message by Fer
I'll try to list light, airy girl names. But if they veer into fluffy-dom I'm not resposible. :-)Leonie ("LEE-uh-nee" or "LAY-uh-nee") / Leontine, Sylvia / Sylvie,
Isla, Elspeth / Elsa, Aisling, Alicia, Eliane, Helena ("HEL-en-uh"), Callista, Lydia, Cordelia, Verity, Jessamine, Celeste, Adele, Eleanora, Josepha, Carolina, Carlotta, Annabel, Leandra, Jamila.

JamilaMy daughter would have liked to be called Jamila, when she discovered that both her paternal great-grandmothers had been named that.(I guess it was the Charlotte or Ava of that time and place.)
My husband, though, pronounces it Gamila, which I don't like. Not that I knew about the same-named grandmothers at the time.

How nice! Perhaps she'll have a little Jamila one day herself. :-)I'm not fond of the Gamila variant. For me, the rich, gooey "J" sound at the beginning sets up the warm "meel" sound perfectly. (Thus the workings of a name-nerd's brain.)
