[Opinions] Meegan
I met a woman by this name. I find it odd, it looks like "Megan" pronounced with a weird accent.

I knew a Megan who pronounced her name MEE-gan. I personally prefer MAY-gan and MEG-an.

I suspect you will get some different responses once the Australians who participate on this board find the thread."Meegan" is evidently the way that Megan is pronounced by the huge majority of Australians. I suspect that Australian Megans who move to the USA are often tempted to respell it as Meegan to get people to pronounce it the way they prefer. And in Australia they probably think the way most Americans pronounce Megan is "weird". :)

The Meegan in question is American

I know several Megans/Meagans who insist that their name be pronounced Meegan.

Exactly.Megan is MEE-gan, here.MAY-gan or MEGG-an would be highly unusual prnounciations here.

MEG-an is super weird to me.

Well it does get the pronunciation across, but I still don't care for it. Dislike the sound of -eagan -egan names

I've heard the pronunciation MEE-gan for Megan before (like Anne of Green Gables actress Megan Follows), so they probably just spelled it that way to make sure it was pronounced the way they wanted.I like it pronounced that way, but I like just regular Megan better.

I've heard Megan pronounced that way before. I don't like Megan to begin with and this pronunication just makes it worse.

I don't like it. It sounds like "meager", which is not a word I would want my name to remind anyone of.

It's probably just a mispelling of Meagan, which is a variant of Megan for which the pronunciation varies.

I've seen that around here, I think it's atrocious. I've never liked the name Megan, blunt sounds like mee-gan, or double e's.
