I do like the meaning, but I don't really like the sound. I think Briallen would be the best spelling to use too. Briellen just looks like a combination of Brianna and Ellen, and Briallyn looks masculine.

Briallen does sound trendy with the "br" sound at the start, but, while I'm not a huge fan of Celtic names, at least it's legit and has a cute meaning. However I agree with Vicky that it's not the same name anymore if you change the spelling, Briellen looks like a smushing of Brie and Ellen (and as for Briallyn you might as well go for Braelyn at this point).

Briallen is lovely! It's one of my favorites. I pronounce it BREE-ah-len though. Briellen is okay, but it doesn't really seem like the same name to me. It seems more like a mixture of Brie / Bree and Ellen in that case.

I don't like the English pronunication at all, the Welsh is okay. Allan is just so masucline to me that I can't really get behind the name. It's nice enough...just not my thing.

Well, I'm sure you know I love seeing as I used to talk about it all the time and it was actually my username for a while and it's now the name of the heroine in one of my novels...

I know a lot of people don't seem to like it because it looks/seems trendy but it's really not at all - I think it's a twist on a trendy sound, but a fresh twist...

PS: How crazy! First Deva is mentioned and then Briallen! Two of my top 10 fav names (though I never list Briallen in my faves anymore just because I used it in a story) I guess we all do affect each other's opinions of names after so long on the boards lol I know that's how I came to like Jasper and Hugo!

I like the meaning, but I honestley really don't like the sound. I'm not a big fan of any of the Br- names in the first place(except Brigitta), and to be honest Briallen sounds like someone changing Brianna to name her after an Allen to me. It could grow on me though- after having said it out loud a couple of times I'm liking it moere than I did initially.

Changing the spelling to Briellen changes the pronounciation for me, like Bree-ellen instead of Bree-allen, subtle but I notice it- and I actually find the sound more appealing with this spelling.

Oh but I love Briallyn a lot more than Briallen.

Over all I like the name, I just don't like the nicknames that can go with it.
