Laverne? Icky pooh. The male name Verne (ick) with a tacky "La-" thrown in front of it.
I don't know if Laverne has more reputable roots than that. But that's how I've always seen the name.
I love Patty and Maxine, but poor Laverne got the short straw in that family.
