Emmaline looks like Emma-line.

I undoubtedly prefer Emmeline to Emmaline (though I prefer Emeline to Emmeline).

I adore the name Emma, but if I wanted to make a future daughter's name more unique, I would use Emmaline, nn Emma. Emmaline could be used as a fn or mn.

I also really dislike the name Emma. It was really popular in my area in the 80s and I had 2 in my class of around 25 alone. I know it's really popular just now, but it still feels so dated to me because of this.

Emmaline seems too much a replacement for the very popular Emma, and I like the looks of the palindromic 'emme' a lot more, anyway - putting an 'a' in there instead throws it off.

I don't like either of them much, to be honest. At first I thought I preferred Emmaline but you're right about the A sticking out. I'd pronounce Emmeline EM-e-leen or EM-e-lin.
