I swear, if I see one more continental European couple using an English name that doesn't exist in their culture on their innocent child, I would like to kill myself.
To all non-English-speaking Europeans: Get over names like
Kevin and
Liam and use REAL European names. Look at your name day calendars or older name books (i.e. without the foreign crap) to see what you can use. Even a name that EXISTS in your country, like
Ester or
Lukas, is better than a name like
Kevin or
Jessica. Learn that modern English names (names like Madycynne and Khaedyn) lack class. And all the nice (i.e. lesser-used, not cliche) English names like
Leona and
Richard are found only on old people nowadays (you'll notice it especially with the women).
And now, Americans are using foreign names without knowing the real meanings. Would I name my child
Zuleika,
Aydin,
Florian, or
Yukiko? As nice as they sound, I wouldn't because I am a monolingual English-speaking American.
Knowing that no children in Sweden have Swedish names, no children in Germany have
German names, or that no children in
France have French names makes me want to barf. The only Europeans still using THEIR OWN names are (get ready to cringe) the Moroccan, Pakistani, Turkish, and Somali immigrants, none of whom belong in Europe anyway due to their prudishness and intolerance.
