Our 4yo daughter is named
Maya (MY-ah).
If people are introduced to her before they see her name written down they pronounce it corrently. If they see her name written down first they pronounce it like May-a and lots of people call her
Mia. I think probably 3 people out of 10 pronounce it right on the first go.
I love the name, it really suits my daughter & isn't as popular here in Australia as it is in the US although I think it is probably increasing in popularity.
