I read in Bruce Lansky's Baby Name Survey that Clarissa is indeed considered 'snobby' -- but also artistic. I've always liked my name though, even as a little girl I refused to be called 'Claire.' My middle name is Diane -- a family name -- I think it works well to pair it with a classic name. I especially like the meaning (http://wiki.name.com/en/Clarissa)
