Lucia Mariana is a 9-year-old girl from San Bernardino, California. She has black hair and brown eyes. Her father died when her little brother was born. Her mother was too poor to care for her, but would like to contact her often. She is Mexican-American and speaks Spanish, but some English. She likes dancing, shopping, and playing the guitar.
Octavio Cruz is Lucia's 6-year-old brother. He has black hair and brown eyes. He speaks mostly Spanish but some English. He likes coloring, cats, and art.
Phoebe Jennifer is a 12-year-old girl from New York City. She has blond hair and green eyes. Her father was killed in the 9/11 attacks and her mother died of cancer a year later. She is a very shy child. She likes being alone, reading, and singing.
Gregory Keith is a 10-year-old boy from Boston, Massachusetts. He has brown hair and blue eyes. His parents abandoned him as a baby and he has been through many orphanages. He likes basketball and other sports.

Everyone is doing great!
Lucia and Octavio have both learned a lot of English. They regularly talk to their mom on the phone and every month we drive to San Bernardino over the weekend to visit their mother. Lucia is taking dance and guitar lessons and won her school's talent show by playing "America the Beautiful" on her guitar. Octavio loves that now he has pet cats of his own.
Phoebe had a rough time settling in at first, but now has accepted her new family. She is doing very good in school and is also in the school choir. She has come out of her shell and has made lots of friends. She also babysits Parker when Gina's not around.
Greg is also doing good. He joined the basketball team and is doing very well in that. He also is trying to teach his new little brothers how to play football.
