[Opinions] Candace
What do you think of Candace?Do you prefer Candice or Candace?Do you like the nn Candy or Can?How do you pronounce it? I thought KAN-dis but now I've seen KAN-day-see and kan-DAY-see and KAN-dass for the Candace spelling (sounds like canned a** if you ask me).Do you like Candace KAN-day-see nn Daisy?Do you know anyone name Candace or Candice? Do they go by Candy? How old are they? middle names?Do you think it's a bit dated to the 80s?how about the similar Cadence?

I know a CandisShe was called Candy as a child and refuses to be called that as an adult. She's 32 now. She's lovely, but Candis / Candace is not a favorite.I went to high school in the 80s with a girl whose real name was Candice Cain. Yes, nn Candy. She bore it with dignity.I do not like the Candace prn KAN-day-see. It's counter-intuitive to me. If you're going to prn the final E it makes more sense to me that the middle syllable should be a short A, not a long one: KAN-dah-see. With a long A in the middle it seems more reasonable to prn it kan-DAY-see, which I do not like at all.I am also not a fan of Cadence unless one of her parents is a percussionist. Just a little quirk on my part.

I like it, and I pronounce it CAN-diss. My preferred spelling is Candace. I'm not sure about the nicknames; I've kind of been off using Candy as a nickname because it was the name of my neighbor's Golden Retriever. I do actually know a Candace quite well--my aunt. She is 41, and she doesn't have a middle name. She was actually named for Candace Bergen, back in the 60s. I don't think of the 80s at all.I like Cadence, too. I know a little Cadence who's adorable. Her name is appropriate, as both her parents are musicians. I'm wary of musical names as a rule, but in some cases (like in Cadence's) I think they can fit.

I say Kan-dis, I think it's pretty. I prefer Candace.I can't see KAN-day-see at all, so no.I don't like Candy or Can much; I find Caddy from the Faulkner character charming.Don't know any. It's a little dated but it's nice. They look similar but aren't really at all. Cadence is the ultimate "today" name. Unisex, fast rising, long-A emphasis, unusual word name, has the "aiden" sound in it, creative, etc

I actually really like both Candace and Cadence right now. I prefer Candace, but wouldn't use a NN. I pronounce it KAN-dis. I know a 15-year-old Candace, but I'm not sure of her MN.

I only like Candace, "CAN-dis." I don't like either Candy or Can as a nn. I've never heard any of those other pronunciations. I suppose the more Greek appropriate ones make sense, and I do like the nn Daisy. But it's like asking me to find another way to pronounce Mary or Elizabeth. The "CAN-dis" pronunciation is permanently set in my brain.I dislike the Candice spelling immensely. It looks as if someone can't make their mind up about naming a child Candace or Alice and smooshed the two names together.I don't find Candace dated in the least. If it was popular, it couldn't have been *that* overly used. It still sounds fresh to me.I dislike Cadence. It makes me think of military marching bands.

I really like the name Candice, but I prefer it spelled with the I rather than the A. I guess this is because I prefer it pronounced CAND-IS, and don't like CAND-AY-CEE, and Candace always makes me think of the latter pronunciation.I don't mind the nickname Candy, I think it's cute. I think Daisy is a stretch. If I wanted Daisy, I'd be more likely to go with Margaret.I have known one Candice, in fact, she was someone I lived with for a while. She is now twenty-three years old. Her middle name is Dawn. She never ever ever was called Candy. Always Candice.

I love Candace and I definitely prefer that spelling. I say Can-diss or Can-days, but only the second one if I'm really tired.I dislike nn Candy, and Can would be okay, but it's such a common word in English. I like nn Dacey (day-SEE). I dislike nn Daisy, and the pronunciation KAN-day-see.I know one Candace (20) and one Candice (16), I do not know their mns.I don't really think its dated to the 80s as it remained fairly popular through the early nineties, but I guess it could be a little.I hate Cadence. It seems like asking your child to march to the same beat for their entire life, or be the beat by which others determine their own lives, either of which is like asking to much. Then again I almost always read to much into musical names.

I love Candace!I love either version; it doesn't matter if it's Candice or Candace. I'd probably pick Candace because Candice reminds me slightly of jaundice.I dislike both nicknames; prefer CCI agree, it does sound like canned @$$. Awkward. I'd say CAN-diss. The other pronunciations are weird... I've never heard them.I don't like KAN-day-see because no one will say that when they see Candace. They'll think CAN-diss because that's the most common pronunciation. The only Candace I've ever met was one of my kindergarten teachers, Candace Webb. She did not go by Candy. When I had her, I'd say she was about 45. That was about ten-ish years ago. I don't know her middle name.I don't think it's dated at all; I think it's ready to come back.Cadence is going to be dated to the 2000s. I much prefer Candace, even though the nn Candy is so horrible.Combo suggestions:
Candace Allegra
Candace Elaine
Candace Francesca
Candace Olivia
Candace Lydia
Candace Willow
Candace Noelle
Candace Natalia
Candace Vanessa
Candace Vivienne
Candace Johanna

Candace is nice.
I like the spelling Candis because of an old friend with that name.
The other pronunciations would automatically be butchered (and don't really fit anyway).
Daisy is a stretch... No, don't do it.
I know a few people named Candace (varied spellings) and none of them currently go by Candy, though some may have in younger years... Can- no.
Most in their 20s or 30s.
I don't think of it as dated as it wasn't overused in a particular era.
Cadence is ok, I suppose, but a very different name.

I like Candace, it is not too common but familiar enough to not cause problems. I think it is a strong, classy name.I prefer CandaceI hate the nns Candy and CanI pronounce it KAN-dass or KAN-dis when I am speaking quicklyI find the prn KAN-day-see a bit forced and I think you would struggle to get other people to use that pronunciation. And the kid would spend their life correcting people. So no, I don't like Candace nn Daisy.Yep, I know two Candaces and a Candaice. One of them occasionally goes by Candy. I hate Candy. Like hate it beyond words. And this fierce hate is the only reason I would never even consider using Candace. I don't want any daughter of mine to have a name where she could conceivably choose to be known as Candy. The Candaces I know are 22, 21 and 3. I don't know their mns.I don't think its dated.I don't like Cadence. Its too trendy
