[Opinions] Re: Alicia
in reply to a message by Lily8
Just wondering if I could get away with pronouncing it ah-LEE-see-uh?
It's an uncommon pronunciation, but you could probably get away with it, a lot of people would mispronounce it thoughHow do you pronounce it? I usually think A-lee-shaDo you prefer Alice over Alicia? I acutally am really growing to love Alice...it is much less common and I think it's cuter.Do you know anyone named Alicia or variant (Alisha etc)? How old are they, how do they spell it and do you happen to know any middle names?
I do know several Alicia's. It seems like it really had a moment of trendiness in the town I grew up in. One is in college now and her name is Alicia Kay (A-lee-sha). The other is Alisha (a-lee-sha also) but I don't know her mn. I know a Alisha that is in her 20's (pretty sure hers is pronounced A-lih-sha. Also, a physician in our town named his daughter Alysia. I also know a lot of Alisa, Alissa, Alyssa's. What is your favorite spelling of Alicia?
Probably Alicia.
Do you think it's still too common? Is it dated to the 80s like Amanda? (in a slightly dated kind of way...the way Amanda and Rebecca seem dated not the way Courtney and Tiffany do....if you get what I mean)? Do you think it is still common if you combine all the spellings? Do you know any babies or young girls named Alicia?I do think it is sort of dated, not bad, but yeah kinda like Amanda. The main problem I have with this name is that there are so many variant pronunciations and spellings that I find it to be a confusing name. I think where I live it would almost always be pronounced A-lee-sha...that is the norm prn around here. Do you understand why Alicia is way out of the top 100 yet Alyssa is still up there? I never really got it. Do you prefer Alyssa over Alicia? No...Alyssa is worse than Alicia as far as being dated IMO...Do you like Al or Ali or Lisha as a nn? noDo you think Estella, Adelaida nn Ada and Alicia are a good sibset? Alicia seems too modern and doesn't fit with the other two IMO
