[Opinions] Alexandra
in reply to a message by Lily8
I think it sounds strong, while Alexandria sounds overly frilly. Even though I do like the connection to the historical city. But Alexandra also seems more regal, and I just love it!I don't think Alexandra is all that common. *checks* Oh, it's ranked 49th and has been in the top 100 since the 80's. Well, I don't think I've ever met one (in real life, as I know two from BtN!) There was a girl in the class below me in high school who was named Lexi, and I've known an Alexi and an Alexis roughly my age also. I've also heard mothers call their 10 year olds at the store Lexi, but who knows what it was short for. Never heard of any Alexandrias.I think an Alexandra could go by her full name. Alexandria maybe, but there is an extra syllable in there. I think she might get called Alex on occassion, but it could be easily corrected.I love Alex as a nickname though. I always have. It just seems so fresh and lively on a girl, as long as it has a nice feminine name like Alexandra to back it up. I find Alex to be rather plain on a boy though.
