A teacher at my school was called Eve. It was short for Evelyn.
I know another Eve - that's her full name I believe, and an Evie, who I think is really an Eva.
I prefer Eva - Eve could be the nn. Eve is a bit too short and sweet to suit my style, but I would consider it as a mn.
