[Opinions] Mildred (Yes -- Mildred!)
I've fallen for Mildred. The name means "gentle strength"; it yields a fresh, endearing nickname (Millie); it's redolent of past epochs; and it's simultaneously lofty and accessible. What are your reflections? Also, which of the following combinations do you admire?Mildred Caroline
Mildred Cecilia
Mildred Cecily
Mildred Clare
Mildred Eloise
Mildred Eveline
Mildred Fleur
Mildred Helene
Mildred Hesper
Mildred Léonie
Mildred Lucy
Mildred Peony
Mildred Poppy
Mildred Rosaline
Mildred Sophia
Mildred Sophie

I think it's about a generation before the general public in the USA will be able to see Mildred as an appropriate name for a baby again. But the avant garde might start bringing it back as a funky name when they get tired of names like Hazel and Olive. I've always hoped that Milbrey, the modern form of Milborough, the name of the original St. Mildred's sister who was also a medieval saint, would catch on myself. I like it a lot better than Mildred, but that's partly because I'm old enough that it's very hard for Mildred to sound "fresh" to me. :)

Mildred is one of my gps. I like the fact that it doesn't sound stereotypically feminine. Mildrith is the more correct form of the name, though. There was an Anglo-Saxon name Mildred but it was a guy's name. Mildred needs to be paired with a more fresh and feminine mn to balance out its harshness and out-datedness. Keeping that in mind I love the following combos:Mildred Caroline
Mildred Cecilia
Mildred Cecily
Mildred Clare - I especially like this spelling of Clare.
Mildred Eveline
Mildred Helene
Mildred Leonie
Mildred Lucy
Mildred Sophia
Mildred Sophie

I don't care for Mildred at all. The sound is unattractive especially the Dred part. Mildred Clare and Mildred Eloise are the best combos on your list.
