I don't particularly like this spelling, but it's fine for a boy imo.I much prefer Shay, on a girl. It's a guilty pleasure and I'd probably never use it, but there you go.

Maybe it's the Appalachian in me, but...... I really like Shea/ Shay as a middle name. It's got a good sound to it, like Anne/ Marie/ Leigh/ Rose/ Lee/ Michael, the kind of sound that makes it "complete" a name. But that's just my opinion. ;) I prefer it on a girl though. Janie Shae
Mary Shay
Rebecca Shay
Delphina Shae
Camilla Shae Augustus Shay
Christian Shay
Jordan Shay

It's really not my style, but I think this is the best spelling of the name and I think it could be used for either gender.

One of my oldest friends has a younger brother with this name, so it's all boy for me. I quite like it, I've only ever met the one so it doesn't seem too overused or trendy to me.

It's fine, but I like Shay better...And I don't really have a gender preference. I've liked it on both.

i like it for either a girl or boy, but i personally prefer it for a boy. i knew a girl in elementary school named shai (prn. the same way) i think it's a good fn, but would also make a really good unique mn

Shea on a girl is cool. Not my style but cool and fashionable, short and sweet and stylish, not weak sounding.Shea on a boy is ... pardon me. To me, it's effeminate. I mean, I can't picture a broad shouldered corporate veep, or a bearded hard rock drummer, or even a male rodeo star, named Shea, without feeling a bit jarred. It's not as femme as, say, Elizabeth, but it's just "off," it draws attention in an unflattering way, the way the name Chuck or Rod on a woman would. As much as I'd love to say I'm immune to gender stereotyping, there it is. I would never name my son Shea.

I think Shea/Shay is becoming way too tryndee. Seems like every little girl who isn't named Something Grace or Something Rose is named Something Shay/Shae/Shea. And half of them are called Shay-Shay. *rolls eyes*Seems fillerish to me. Also reminds me of shea butter. That's an ingredient in a lot of body lotions and things now. Smells a lot like cookie dough.

Don't remind me.*Cries over own ruined name*So long, Shayna. You had a nice run.Still. The popularity of Shay doesn't make people any better at getting the prn. of my name right.

I love the name Shea for a boy, but dislike it for a girl. I think it's strong but with a soft side to it, and I actyally kind of see it as a cowboy name.
