In New Orleans...We pronounce it even differently:
CAL-ee-ope. (sounds a lot like Cantalope..., basically we just take the name Callie and add an ope sound.)

no, the way you pronounce it is the english way. the greek pronunciation is different as it is with most Greek names. i will find proof tonight, don't have time right now.
