[Opinions] Sookie
My roommate is thinking about using Sookie as a nn for a future daughter, but we are having a hard time coming up with fns for it. Any ideas? Thanks.

I'm assuming she's a True Blood/Sookie Stackhouse fan, no? I have only heard this name once--on the main character in the Charlaine Harris books which is now a tv series on HBO. At first glance, it looks like Sue + Key, but it actually rhymes with "cookie" and "rookie". On the tv show, when some of the characters say the name (esp. with thick Louisiana accents), it sounds more like "Suckie", which is interesting, seeing as it's a show about vampires. :b I think it makes an ok nickname, preferably for a pet, though, and not a person. I think it makes a horrible given name for a person, just to go on the record. I will second (or third?) Susannah, as that's the only thing I can think of it could slightly be short for. And Sukie is a nn for it, I believe, so that's really not a big stretch after all.

Yeah...she's a big True Blood/Sookie Stackhouse fan. She also wants to name another daughter Georgia nn either George or Georgie from Dead Like Me, which was another HBO series.

I liked Dead Like Me, too, but I think that was on Showtime.

I gave the list to my roommate. The top contenders are Scholastica, Jocasta, and Pascale. She also likes Susannah.

Susannah?Susan, Suzanne.. etc.

Well, it is originally a diminutive for Susannah, so I think that should be your first suspect. Some alternates:Shoshana
Susan

For some reason, I didn't know it was a diminutive of Susannah. She likes that a lot. The other name she has picked out for a girl is Georgia. She said that Susannah nn Sookie and Georgia nn Georgie would be a wonderful sibset. I tend to agree with her on that.
