[Opinions] Hermione
I've really not payed much attention to Hermione in the past. Not because of Harry Potter (which I haven't read in about 8 years), more because it never seemed very interesting to me. But for some reason looking at it today, I feel like I'm seeing something about it that I couldn't see before. It's surprisingly beautiful and harmonious. Anyways, what are your thoughts about it? If Harry Potter never existed what would be your thoughts? Can you think of any nicknames for it, or any combos? What do you think of these combos?Hermione Asphodel

Have never liked Hermoine... sounds like a disease or a science project or something... not a person... and in the case of it even maybe being a person's name it falls into the same unappealing category as things like Herman and Norman and such.

Hermione is an okay name, although it kind of makes me think of the name Herman, which I really don't like. I think I might find Hermione a bit more appealing if it weren't for all of the Harry Potter hype. For a NN, I like Ione and Mia (MIE-a). Mia (MIE-a) will probably be confused with the ultra-popular Mia (MEE-a), which I don't like, but since it's just a NN, I don't think it would be that much of an issue. You could use the spelling Mya instead, but that seems a bit too far off from Hermione.Out of your combos, I like these the best:
Hermione Asphodel
Hermione Celeste
Hermione Astraea
Hermione Gwendolen
Hermione LaurelHow about Harmonia?

I was thinking of Mia today after I posted this. It does seem to fit really well. I love Harmonia, it's so...musical! ^-^ Thank you!

Guess I'm in the minority here, but I really dislike it. It sounds whiney and reminds me of mayonnaise.

I used to think it sounded a bit harsh, but no more. Thank you for commenting!

I probably wouldn't have heard about Hermione if it hadn't been for the books. I'd personally stay away from Latin/ Mythology/ Fantasy/ Literature names

If not for Harry Potter, this would probably be one of my favourite names.
Nowadays, of course, I can't hear the name Hermione without the image of Emma Watson popping up in my head.
But still a lovely name.

I fell in love with Hermione growing up in the 1970's. (I sometimes think that J.K. Rowling and I watched the same BBC dramas because so many of her names are my favorites too.)I was an old movie buff and British actresses Hermione Baddely (sp?)and Hermione Gingold initially turned me on to the name. Finding out Hermione was also in Greek mythology and Shakespeare sealed the deal. So many wonderful associations with the name. And the sound of it is heavenly. From your list I love:Hermione Celeste
Hermione Allegra
Hermione Astraea
Hermione Aurore
Hermione Clio (ooh - very zippy!)
Hermione Demetria
Hermione Despoina
Hermione Gwendolen (it sounds like golden Hermione to my ears)
Hermione Iris
Hermione Rosamund
Hermione Vesper / VesperaTwo of my favorite combos for Hermione are: Leda Hermione and Hermione Imogen.

The upside of Harry Potter is that at least everyone knows how to pronounce it now. One of my favourite combos is Juno Hermione.I like:
Hermione Asphodel
Hermione Lilias
Hermione Gwendolen
Hermione Rosamund
Hermione Isolde/Iseult
Hermione Vered

I *love* Hermione. It's one of those names that sounds better the more I hear it. (Yes, this does mean I've said it over and over in my head. Sad, I know.) Dh even green-lighted Hermione as a mn. Unfortunately, the HP association will probably be too strong for quite sometime to come. With or without Hermione Granger, my thoughts would be the same- beautiful name! For nns I'd like to think Ione would work, but it probably doesn't. Mione, maybe? Looks a bit funny, but it sounds pretty.Of your combos, I like Hermione Vittoria, Hermione Vespera, and Hermione Rosamund. I haven't any combo suggestions for Hermione as a fn, I've only toyed with it as a mn.
