Leah or Lea has been growing on me recently, though generally I prefer longer, more ornate names. The issue I have with it is of pronounciation, I'm aware in English it's pronounced Lee-ah, but in my own language (Italian) it's pronounced Leh-a with an open "eh" sound as is in bet and actually Lea would be female form of Leo, whereas the biblical name is Lia (pron. Lee-a).

Which is better? Lea(h) or Lia? In what pronounciation? I've also been toying with Liat, but I'm a bit bugged by the meaning, which I find weird.

I love Leah! But I always think of Lia as a nickname for something like Cordelia or Emilia, so I wouldn't use it as a given name on its own.

I'd say Lia, because it seems simple but elegant.

I only like Leah, pronounced LEE-uh. I feel the best way to get LAY-uh, would be Leia. I love the meaning of Liat, very sweet!

I don't like the name Leah. Lea in my opinion is a slightly better spelling. I always use the pronunciation Lee-ah but that's because I live in England. I think Leh-a is a nicer pronunciation.

Overall, I prefer the spelling Lia but I prefer the pronunciation Leh-a therefore the spelling would have to be Lea.

Liat is not something I would use but I don't hate it. I see what you mean about the meaning of Liat being a bit weird. When In saw what the meaning was I first thought what's wrong with that? Now that I've thought about it it does seem a little weird and I can't quite decide if it's a good meaning or not.
