Rutherford is very pretentious and surname-y but I have a soft spot for pretentious names. I quite like it actually. I wouldn't use it myself but would love to meet someone with that name. Kester also looks a bit surname-y but when I looked it up in the database it turned out to be a legit form of Cristopher which definitely makes me like it more. I'm not fond of the sound though but it's absolutely usable.

I find both really unattractive, sorry. They're way too surnamey, Kester's very trendy and I'm pretty sure Rutherford is connected to something to do with chemistry.

I think Rutherford sounds ridiculously pretentious and Kester could be kind cool as a mn if it has some family significance or personal meaning but I think it sounds kind of creepy as a fn. Probably because it reminds me of Lester- and I always think Lester the Molester. Actually now I am thinking Kester the molester as well. So scratch that. Yuck.
