[Opinions] If you had to give your child a purely French name, which would you choose?
One per gender. For me, it would be:Luc-Pascal
Genevieve Louise(I guess I could still use Félix Benjamin in this case--maybe)

We have VERY similar tastes in French names. Amelie, Sebastien and Alexandre made my two combos and I toyed with Adrien, Olivier, Henri and Etienne!

Damien Léopold Corentin Esmée Brigitte Maximilienne
..I had abowling ball with a french name once. It was really long, he had about 7 middle names. I just called him JP (Jean-Pierre)

Celandine Manon + Étienne GirardI love French names but they sound so weird with American pronunciation =(
vote up1
Celandine Manon is positively dreamy!

I like Jean-Julien Remy and Lea Charlotte.

Lydie Josephine for a girl.Frédéric Gustave for a boy.

Mathilde Océane and Richard AurélienDoes Richard count? It could be pronounced the French way. Aurélien is just a name I really like and Richard is a long time favorite. I love Mathilde and Océane equally. I guess I'd call her Océane, though. I also love Delphine and Amandine.
vote up1
Yes Richard counts.

JolieWith the risk of coming across like a know-it-all, I just wanted to point out the fact that Jolie is not a French name. It's the French word for "cute" and it is, as far as I know, not used as a name. (I looked it up on some French name sites and it's not even in the database).
vote up1
Oh, okay :). I just went through the list on here, I would probably use Joelle Nicole then
vote up1
It's the French word for "pretty", "mignon/ne" is the French word for "cute". Sure, it can also be used to describe a cute/pretty girl, but the usual translation is "pretty".Yes, you're right, it's not used as a name in France at all. At least I've never met one (my mom is French). Danielle is also really really dated in France.

Laure Pomeline and Edmond FélixETA: I'm currently enamored of Laure; under normal circumstances, I would choose Eugenie Corisande, Eugenie Melisande, or Eugenie Rosemonde.

A pox on Laure. She's crowding out Eugenie? She has some nerve.

If I only get to pick one per gender...it would be Amélie Estelle for a girl and Raphael Théodore for a boy. But there are so many more that I love!

Elodie Mireille is absolutely stunning!

Thierry Nicolas is magnifique. :-)

Ooh, I adore French names.
My favorite French boy names are Étienne and Guillaume. I really like Guy too but it would probably be mispronounced all the time. Guillaume is just so handsome and masculine but it's very French. I don't think I could get away with it. My choice is thus Étienne for a boy. Girl names are harder. Maybe Joséphine or Ophélie.
vote up1
I love Étienne! And Ophélie is adorable.

Genevieve ColetteI can't really think of one for a boy... ^^;

Nicolas Maximilien is gorgeous!
vote up1
Hmm. We were asked this in the past, and if I remember correctly my sibling set was: Bernard, Anne, Francoise and Georges. (I could sit around all day saying "zhorzh" and be serenely happy.) I still like the set, but I'm not sure if Anne qualifies as "purely French." Going with these, combos (do the French make combos? -- I learned in school that they only have fns) would be:Bernard Maxime
Anne Colombe
Francoise Germaine
Georges EmericSo many gorgeous names left out. Oh, the humanity! Ah well, que sera sera. ;-)
vote up1
Yup, French people generally have mns--often more than one. [m]Your combos are beautiful, too! Bernard Maxime and Anne Colombe are killing me.

Hmm... I'll go with Marguerite Rosalie for a girl. And Benjamin Nicholas for a boy. ;) I know I cheated, but I haven't gone through French boy's names to make a list and don't have the time to do it right now.

You can't use Nicholas... has to be Nicolas :>
