[Opinions] Dixie
A girl name just popped into my head. Dixie! After saying it after awhile it sounded kind of pretty. It could be refreshing on a baby girl today with the right middle name such as Dixie Eleanor, Dixie Caroline, Dixie Margaret or Dixie Virginia. Sounds very classy! What do you think of Dixie?

I think this name is really cute! I probably just would have said otherwise a week ago but I just read a story in Oprah magazine this month with a little girl named Dixie. She was adorable with a sassy personality and had a very well educated, intelligent father. It made me see the name in a whole new light. I really like it!As an aside, her siblings were Quinn (girl) and Walker (boy).

ETA the songIt doesn't sound classy to me, at all. I went to high school with a Dixie (who was the complete opposite of classy) so that might have tainted my opinion of the name. I've also known quite a few dogs named Dixie.ETA: Don't know if you live in the Southern US, but if you do a teenaged Dixie will hear the song all the time from the boys. The Dixie I knew did. Just think, "Oh, I wish I were in Dixie......way down South in Dixie," not good.

I live in Virginia and all I can think of is the Civil War when I hear Dixie. That association is still painful to many so I wouldn't go there. Still, it has a cute sound and I actually know an almost three-year-old Dixie (short for Dixianna). Her grandmother and I are friendly somewhat and it was her dd who had Dixie when she was 14. Yes, 14! Anyway, Dixie is a darling (couldn't resist there).Does it sound classy to me? No way. Cute, yes. Spunky, yes, but classy and elegant? No.

I like Dixie. There's something cute and whimsical about it. I can see it on a little girl and on a refined, ol' Southern lady.Dixie Caroline and Dixie Margaret are super nice, and I may be pouring on the sugar, but I like Dixie Maybelle and Dixie Magnolia, too.I also like:Dixie Josephine
Dixie Georgina
Dixie Marigold
Dixie Loretta
Dixie Catherine
Dixie Theodora

I love Dixie. I'd never use it myself, but I like it on other people. I do think it would be odd to see this name on a non Southern girl though. I have only known Southerners, of all ages, with this name. I do like the flow and sound of Dixie Eleanor.

Dixie CupPlus it sounds the opposite of classy. Sorry.

It wouldn't be refreshing, it would make you sound like you're in the Ku Klux Klan. I'd stay particularly away from Dixie Virginia. This said, it does have a cute sound, but more for a pet, or as a nickname perhaps.

It makes me think of the expression "whistlin' Dixie". Very southern belle type name, but I don't see it as a bad thing at all.

I don't really like it. I don't think it sounds classy. I'd feel that if I were to use the name Dixie I"d be declaring my love for and my loyalty to the American South, and I wouldn't want to do that. My sister had a cat named Dixie.

I like it a lot. To me, it's similar to Daisy in that it's simple and cute, but it's a lot spunkier than Daisy. It always makes me think of the movie Broken Bridges, in which the teenage girl is named Dixie.

It sounds like a transportable toilet.
;PSeriously, but aside from that, it just sounds childish and, sorry, rather trashy too.

It has always made me think of peeing, but I've never known why.Maybe this is it :P

Sorry, but I think Dixie is very low-class, like she'd have sisters named Buffy and Bubbles and maybe Sissy. And Dixie Virginia is way too hokey.

It's okay, but I would never use it. There is a monkey named Dixie in the Donkey Kong series

IGNORE TRIPLE POST!I like it for a nicname, but not for a full name. It makes me think of Dixie cups.
Dixie Caroline and Dixie Virginia sound southern-themed. Some others are Dixie Sunflower, Dixie Mabel, Dixie Maisie, and Dixie Summer.
