It is a name you'd rarely see on a younger child these days so I give it the fresh factor.

I just find Paul one of the coldest almost sterile names around. I'm not sure why it has that affect on me.

Polly as a nickname would almost sell me on it :)

I know how you feel. Not too long ago someone replied to a post by (in part) rhapsodizing about how much she hated my name.

Agree, but ...

Paulina could sell me on the name. That one syllable makes all the difference to me. ;-)

I want to like Paul. I love Paolo but Paul just reminds me of paw. Weird, I know.

I have similar things myself with names. Really minor and perhaps quite strange associations.

I don't think I will ever get over my Paul negativity and unfortunately the feminine forms are sullied for me too. Perhaps with the exception of Paulette. I can always get behind a cute -ette name.
