It's a bit of a stretch but I suppose it would be fine. My granny's brother was named William "Skip", so I guess Bartholomew "Tom" wouldn't be too out there. I also know a guy named John Waldemar but he goes by Trey. For the longest time I was so confused as to why he went by Trey until he said he was John Waldemar III (being the the third John Waldemar he was "Trey", get it? lol). So I think people would eventually get the nickname Tom for Bartholomew.
