I think it's fine, but then I'm Italian, so I find it neither tawdry nor too Catholic. I wouldn't use it, though because it's the name of a former close friend who I had a sort of fall out with.
It's a bit awkward to combo because it's already 2 names together. I think it work best with a fairly "plain" mn, like Eve, Constance or Hester.

I love Mariangela! I like it throaty and italian though, so these combos are kind of funny to me. I think Mary Angela would be better with most of them. Viviane is my favorite.

It's certainly not tawdry. Not impratical, really, though I had to look a bit hard to see how it was pronounced. Not hard to get used to , though. Too Roman Catholic? Not really. Both Mary and Angela can be anyone's name. I like it.

It's a bit chimeric for my taste. I'd prefer Maria Angela Inessa, and probably would only like another Italianate were there to be a third name added.

I quite like Mariangela. It hints at Italian heritage, but I once knew a Mariangela who was neither Italian nor Catholic, so I wouldn't automatically assume that, not that those are negative associations. It is a bit weighty, but it lends itself easily to several different nicknames, so I wouldn't call it unwieldy. It would sound quite nice with something a bit shorter and less conspicuous. I like quite a few of your combinations, including:Mariangela Agnès
Mariangela Blythe
Mariangela Cécile (This is lovely.)
Mariangela Eve
Mariangela Iris
Mariangela Odile
Mariangela Opal
Mariangela Pearl
Mariangela Sophie
Mariangela Sylvie
Mariangela Violet

It sounds extremely Italian which automatically connects it to Catholicism, for me anyway being an Italian Catholic and living in a very Italian-Catholic area. I think it's pretty even though I haven't been much of a fan of Angela. ^_^ Combos I like:Mariangela Aveline
Mariangela Cécile (say-SEEL)
Mariangela Cecily
Mariangela Constance
Mariangela Delphine * I think it sounds nice but Delphine isn't my style
Mariangela Eveline * same as abve
Mariangela Iris
Mariangela Pearl
Mariangela Rosaline
