[Opinions] Jamie
What would you think of dad whose name is James and is occasionally called Jamie by family and wants to name his son Jamie? I think Jamie is handsome on a boy. What do you think of Jamie on a baby boy?

Hate itEvery single Jamie I have ever met, boy or girl, without exception, has been snobby, cruel, arrogant, whiny, spoiled, entitled, shallow and generally awful. It has absolutely ruined the name for me forever and I actually cringe inwardly whenever I meet a new Jamie.I think James in full on a little boy is much cuter and more handsome. And personally I think the more vintage and vastly unused Jim or Jimmy would go much better with your favourite, Betty :)

I love Jamie on a boy, as a nn for James.

You know, I can't wholeheartedly endorse the use of Jamie on a boy, although there's nothing about its sound that I find objectionable. This is because, although I hate it on a girl, I still find something too feminine about it. Maybe not really feminine, but it doesn't seem masculine enough to me. I guess my perception might be colored by the experience of my husband, whose childhood nickname was Jamie. He changed it to Jim during middle school, because he was being teased about being called Jamie. So I would at least want to see it as a nickname for James, which would give the boy more options later in life, than on its own.

I like Jamie well enough on a kid but it's rather cutesy on a grown man.

Jamie is a great name but I'd rather see James nn Jamie. I knew a guy growing up named Jamie who once said he wished his full name was James because Jamie was too childish. He eventually just started going by his MN, Aaron.

I love Jamie on a boy, but I'd rather see it as a nn for James. I think the dad could just name the son after him and call him Jamie.

I don't like Jamie as a nickname and even less as a full name. James is much better and without the nickname Jamie. Jamie is just too childish in my option

Cute on a baby boy but no so great on a grown up man. As a nickname maybe but not as a full name.
